work is commencing on the junction improvement of the A500/A53 Basford Roundabout. Works will last for approximately 16 weeks. The works consisting of some carriageway widening, resurfacing, additional traffic signals and replacement of construction joints on the A500 northbound exit slip road. In order to keep disruption to a minimum the closing of traffic lanes to facilitate the works will, in the main, be carried out at night time (8pm – 6am). In addition the A500 northbound slip road will be closed to traffic at night for a period during the contract – the diversion route takes traffic up to the next junction to approach the roundabout from the north. Access and egress for residents and businesses directly affected by the works will be maintained at all times, along with routes for pedestrians and cyclists.

Hi! It would be nice if the new traffic lights let more than 3 cars through from Newcastle. The roundabout has always worked against traffic approaching from Basford but now it's just ridiculous! I am aware that the roundabout is in Stoke, however 25% of approaching traffic is from our borough. Can you help?
